Sexual identity has to do with whom one is sexually attracted to. Sexual identity is not the same thing as someone’s gender identity, which is one’s personal experience of one’s own gender. For that reason someone can feel sexually attracted to persons of both different sex and gender. A naturally born man can therefore identify as woman and attracted to women. That person would therefore be considered a bisexual female.
Following are some common examples of sexual identity. Homosexuality refers to individuals who are sexually attracted to the same sex or gender. Heterosexuality means that one is attracted to persons of the opposite sex or gender. Bisexuality refers to individuals who are attracted to both sexes or more than one gender. Others identify as asexual. Because each human is unique so is our personal experience of our own sexual identity. We are here to help our clients better understand their unique sexual identity.
