There are few things as heartbreaking as experiencing your marital relationship falling a part. It is very common that couples have marital disagreements. It is when these disagreements lead to overwhelming disappointment with the other partner that the two start doubting whether to continue the relationship.
Couples counseling, often referred to as marriage guidance, is a form of counseling that aims at recognizing and resolve conflicts between couples. A session most commonly involves both partners and is directed at improving communication. If one partner is reluctant to open up in front of the other then individual and separate sessions can be in place to start with. Typically the counselor will leave the couple with some homework, something they need to do or discuss in private when they get home. During the next session the counselor will ask how the homework went and how that interaction made the couple feel.
